The wait is over! Listen to Sade’s brand new single!

December 9, 2009

Recently I posted about Sade’s new album Soldier of Love coming out 8th of February 2010. And now, after nearly ten years of waiting, her first new single – with the same title – has been released!
Oh, how I cherish this day!

As the official press release says: “Soldier Of Love which Sade co-produced with Mike Pela, was written by Sade along with longtime collaborators Andrew Hale, Stuart Matthewman and Paul Spencer Denman. The track, featuring a pulsating and anthemic drum beat along with haunting vocals that Sade is known for…”

I love the drums and heavy guitar, and mostly to hear Sade’s smooth voice again, but I also wonder why she still seems to struggle emotionally as the lyrics say:

I've lost the use of my heart
But I'm still alive
Still lookin for the life
The endless pool on the other side
It's a wild wild west
I'm doin my best

Or does Soldier of Love refer to the current world situation as this review of Urban Network Magazine mentions? Whatever it is… the sorrow, the heartache, but also the messages about keeping the faith, and never giving up, have always been part of Sade’s song and are for many a balm of the soul.
