‘Fang’: the latest Iris van Herpen X United Nude
Again Dutch fashion artist Iris van Herpen gave a stunning presentation during the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris on January 23rd. Her current ‘Micro’ collection has been inspired by microscopic organisms. The garments are made of Iris’ own signature materials: leather, plexiglass, synthetic boat rigging, and the whale bones from children’s umbrellas. These blends, combined with highly detailed craftsmanship and innovative techniques, such as 3D-printing, create a sculptured effect. I call it totally Gaga!
In Paris Van Herpen also presented her latest shoe for United Nude. The designer and shoe architects of United Nude collaborated for the fifth time and the result is called the ‘Fang’. Well, the ‘microscopic’ theme of Van Herpen is not truly visible in these designs with gigantic animalistic teeth! It’s not yet certain whether these Iris van Herpen walkable art pieces for United Nude Haute Couture will be available for (limited) sale. So keep an eye out for them at the United Nude website.
