Words on SHOES: me and my Bottines
It was love at first sight between me and my Bottines. Since we are together, we haven’t been without each other for longer than one day.
People tell us, we make such a great couple, and – especially women – do also have a high interest in where my Bottines and I have met. So it’s time to introduce you to my latest love affair at Kiki’s Collage!
I ordered my Bottines via Marjolein van Zanten, who is the exclusive importer of Bottines for The Netherlands and since recently, the UK. About a year ago she send me a press release about the launch of Bottines.nl, and immediately my heart started beating faster. I wanted a pair of those comfy yet stylish soft leather ankle boots. But, I couldn’t chose the color! I was in my last months of my pregnancy and making choices wasn’t my strongest point in that time. So I postponed buying my first Bottines until some months ago. I bought the black boots, that just like the other colors come with natural brown straps, but I also bought an extra pair of black straps. They not only fit and walk perfectly, but they also look good with almost every outfit. What I also love about them is that the Bottines are handmade in a small French factory with the use of best leathers and suedes from France. Also nice to know: the skins are environmentally friendly tanned with vegetable dyes using oak, rosemary and chestnut!
To learn more about the brand and the woman who introduced Bottines to The Netherlands and the UK, I had a talk with Marjolein:
What does Bottines mean?
“Bottines is the French word for boots or ankle boots. As they are originated from France, I wanted to give the site a French name.”
What do you like the most about them?
“I love how they are a combination of timeless elegance and at the same time quite ‘fashion’ as well. And to know that they are 100% made in France with the best crafts and naturally tanned leathers, just makes to wear them more enjoyable!”
How many pair of Bottines do you have and what color is your favorite?
“Haha, I have them all! Of course I should have tried them all by myself first! At the moment my favorite is Bottines Suede in Startaupe. This dark beige has a bronzy shimmer over it. Subtle enough not to walk around ‘glittering’, but when the sun shines the subtle shimmer makes me smile!”
Do you still buy other brands?
“Good question, I actually was thinking about some killer heels the other day, realizing that the last two years I only bought 1 other pair of shoes.”
Can you mention any celebs that wear ‘your’ boots?
“By coincidence, a UK top model saw the Bottines worn by a friend of mine and bought two pairs herself, which of course was fun and encouraging.”
What can we expect from you in the near future when it comes to shoes?
“Well, at the moment I am also launching a new website with summer sandals from Italy and I have discovered some other shoe brands in France that are not represented yet. But for now, the main focus is on the Bottines; they are still my stars!”
