Trespassing: Rotterdam fashion meets Amsterdam
Amsterdam Fashion Week is running (on warm winter boots) right now and showing the upcoming a/w 13 collections of settled fashion labels, newcomers and brilliant Dutch fashion design talent. Next to the ‘invite only’ shows there’s also the Downtown programme that is more accessible for style and art aficionados. The eclectic Downtown programme makes me quite dizzy, but there is absolutely 1 event in my agenda for this week: Trespassing, Rotterdam Fashion at contemporary department store OPTIONS!
At Trespassing the Rotterdam designers Charlotte Kan, Zelda Beauchampet, Daisy Kroon and Martine Viergever show and sell their latest individual work. Trespassing is open from today until January 27, but the official launch of the exhibition is Thursday next. A designer ‘Meet & Greet’, live music, cocktails & cookies, souvenirs and much more.
Also expect art installations, build up with the fresh creations of the four designers. Via the installations one can discover the philosophy and vision of the designers and have a glimpse into their minds.
Short notes on the designers:
* Charlotte Kan (1980, fashion designer) launches at AFW a sustainable collection. Photographer Carina Jesper shooted some inspiring Rotterdam women, dressed in the new collection. The design and production process can be followed via the Charlotte Kan website and social media. Find out more at http://charlottekan.com
* Zelda Beauchampet (1979, fashion and jewelry designer) has started two years ago with her awesome project The Boyscouts. At OPTIONS! she introduces her spring 2013 collection of The Boyscouts, a fashion jewelry & accessory label that winks to scouting. The motto: ‘Survival of the finest’. Hurray for this collection! http://www.theboyscouts.com
* Daisy Kroon (1985, fashion designer) is currently creating her ideal wardrobe and at Trespassing she’s showing the first results of it. Her goal: to design a ‘Daisy Kroon’ classic. A timeless piece to stay forever in ones wardrobe. I’m curious!
* Martine Viergever (1975, jewelry designer – I am longing for her Dream Catcher neclace) presents a new line of bling under the title Mohs 5.5. This refers to the level of the hardness of the used material. Feeling attracted to simple glass shards, the designer goes far beyond the fragility, transparancy and negative associations with glass. For her installation at OPTIONS! Martine Viergever has collaborated with designer Niels van Hout. More to admire at http://www.martineviergever.com
