A Year in the Life of Face Hunter
WHAT A LIFE! (and what a jetlag)
A Year in the Life of Face Hunter by publisher Thames & Hudson shows us the crazy life of globetrotting fashion blogger Yvan Rodic a.k.a. Face Hunter (for those who have no clue about fashion blogging). The book follows Yvan through more than thirty of his favorite cities on a typical year-long traveling session around the world, during which he covers 432,044 km, visits two or three different countries a week and circles the globe more
than ten times, doing some serious people-watching, photographing and partying from New York and Paris to Reykjavík, Batumi and beyond (Amsterdam!).
A Year in the Life of Face Hunter is a personal travel diary that contains not only numerous portraits of happy bright and shining people from allover the world, but also Yvan’s opinions and experiences on the cities he has visited.
On his vivid photographs you see big name fashion industry insiders and dozens of fashion bloggers. One fashion blogger also pops up in different cities. Recognizing her and the rest or not, the book leaves you behind with questions. It’s like having a look inside somebody’s holiday photo album, but the person who can give you the background details is missing. I wish I could hear the stories behind the pictures. What happened there and who is that girl and that fellow? What’s that guy with the kid doing?
For those who wonder too: you can ask Yvan more about the photos in person! Mr. Face Hunter visits Amsterdam (again) on Saturday May 25 and will sign his latest book in the American Book Center from 3pm. Check the ABC website for more details. And, dress to impress!

PS: Before I forget... In 2009 I was working on the book Fashion Blogs together with Felicia Nitzsche and Elina Tozzi. One of the people that was going to be featured in the book was Yvan Rodic. He and I were in touch by email and I did send him some questions. He already answered some of them and would come back to me later with the rest and the photos requested. As I was still searching for a publisher, I had a phone talk with the director of Thames & Hudson in that same period. He had an interest in our book. I was very proud of the fashion bloggers that would show up in the book and mentioned some names during our talk. I do remember him asking 'What's that name again? Face Hunter?' It was quiet on the other end as the director was writing down the name. Some days later he emailed me that he wasn't convinced about the book concept and that I had to look for another publisher. Two months later it was allover the web that Thames and Hudson was going to publish the first Face Hunter book. In interviews Yvan told that he was contacted by Thames & Hudson to create a book. After sending him many, many emails he never came back to me with the rest of his answers and photos and unfortunately he didn't appear in Fashion Blogs. Funny how things did go!
Face Hunter and the lost of face by Thames etc.
Glad you’re not resentful.
